Who said TV wasn’t educational????

17 04 2007

Ok! Well I was doing some extremely beneficial homework (all drama related ofcourse) and I happened to look up and the Simpson’s was on the television.  Naturally I started watching.  The episode was about Marge making all these statues out of ice cream sticks.  Anyway the episode ended a number of years into the future and there were enlarged i-pod’s that had taken over the world and were controlling the people they were supposed to entertain.  I know it sounds crazy, but it gave me an idea.

For our ensemble we have to show a future for music or something like that.  And this idea of  the controlling ipod made me think about all the screaming fans that were so devoted to Elvis and the Beatles and so on.  It made me think about a future that wasn’t neccisarily devoted to their favourite their artist and their music, but instead controlled by the music they listened to.  Almost like having subliminal messages in the music that turn the listeners into disposable puppets.  This idea would also tie in really well with the theme of individuality and conformity.  Thought I’d write it before I forgot!

See you soon! Love Kait xoxoxox

One small step for man, one giant leap for our ensemble….

12 04 2007

And their off and racing! Today both groups gathered on mutual territory ( school) and undertook a developmental day of ensemble construction! For our group it was a very productive day.  Before the holidays each member had a topic to research, ready to share today.  There was Elvis, the Beatles, Live Aid and Austarlian Idol.  Everyone fulfilled their duties and our group was in no way left grasping for information! But our problem was how to narrow down all of this to one idea that we could run with.  Clarry helped us to get back to basic baby steps and a timeline was constructed.  The story so far with our ensemble is on the radio waves.  It is set on the dial of the radio and each era of music is represented through a radio station.  Although, we only developed one scene today, it was a DAMN GOOD SCENE! I felt it was a breakthrough that we were able to construct a structure or basic skeleton for our narrative giving us a plan of attack in creating the rest of our performance.  Having developed one scene gives us a starting point to work from.  Today allowed our group’s spirits to lift and our self confidence to increase.  It was beginning to feel massively overwhelming and like were constantly running around in circles.  Now it feels like the big break we had been waiting for has arisen and it can only go up from here.  It will be important for our group to keep listening to each other, and attempt to articulate our ideas clearly too.  So a day in the holidays at school was worth it!

Oh and just a quick note to the other ensemble group: We are the super ensemble! (Copyright) and Clarry told us we are definetley the favourite group.  hehehehehehhehe

Good night!

ELVIS IS TAKING OVER!!!

11 04 2007

OMG! My assigned research area for the holidays was Elvis Presley: his life his influences, his music etc.. But I have made an executive decision after my research that even after his supposed “death” ( ask me about the conspiracy, I know all about it!) he pretty much has the publicity and fan devotion department COVERED! I know most people would already know this but thought I’d inform the rest of the world.

I felt it was my duty as a dedicated drama enthusiaist/ student/genius! to share my profound knowledge with the world! Or my drama class….. some how I feel they may be slightly more interested than anyone else. Oh well! If anyone wants the 411 on my man EP go to google type in elvis presley and the two best sites are the official Elvis site and Wikipedia. So long!

All together now!

28 03 2007

I love to blog, blogging is the best, isn’t the idea of blogging every little detail of your life on the internet the most radically engenius one ever thought of in man kind?!!! ( I’m just making a point that I am over joyed to be able to write this blog and I don’t find it a chore, I am simply technologically disabled! See Clary!)

Anyway…..today we were given our prescribed props for our ensembles. Our group was given 4 square foot stools ( or puffs as they have become more commonly known as in the group), 3 purple and one blue. The other group got 4 briefcases, 3 were executive black and the other was old and cream. Both groups were eyeing of the wonderful new toys that the other had. Well why wouldn’t you when everyone was enjoying playing so much, especially with the puffs (VERY COOL MAC!). So ofcourse to deter any desputes we decided to trade some of our props with the other group. We simply split them half and half. Then the ephiny of the century came to us… why have all of this division and competition? Why not MERGE GROUPS!!! Yes it was the most productive idea of the year (so far).

Also because we have been throwing around the idea of a radio and the other group had been experimenting with the idea of an ipod we decided together that we should encorporate both ideas. So our ensemble is going to revolve around a ipod with a radio transmitter! Cool I know!

Well catch you all later!

How are the waves today????

21 03 2007

Yes it is true! I have hacked into the computer without my sister’s knowledge and am writing a secret blog….if I should be suddenly cut off you know I have been caught in the act! I clearly should be recieveing an A+ for putting my life in danger for my drama homework ( Nudge nudge Clary!)

Anyway I suppose some drama should come into this blog entry somewhere so here….. After our brainstorming session the other day ( Our groups had to brainstorm our ideas about our ensemble topic, and the avenues we wanted to further explore) I thought for such a broad topic, we had narrowed it down somewhat. My favourite idea was the static between the radio stations or the radio waves. It was our idea that this could be sort of anchor in our story and our portal to each new era of influential music. The other idea I had out of class was slightly amusing ( Yes I did chuckle to myslef if you were wondering), I thought that Alex could dress up as Elvis. I had this vision of all four of us taking on the personia of a music great from the past. I just thought it would be amusing to dress Alex up in a tight white jump suit, long cape and decked out in dimonties all over! I’m sure he would be pleased! lol!

Ok… well that blog was full of a sufficent amount of info…. looks like you’ll have to wait til next time to get a deeper glimpse into brain waves. See later!

Blog…baby…blog…

Okey dokey….here we go again!
So far hasn’t been too terrible, although I had to laugh when Kara told me she deleted her blog entry before she published it! Lol! Today drama was a bit of a mind stretcher because we had to remember our performances from 6 days ago!!! I thought our’s went fairly well, however I did agree with the idea that it could of been more fluent. I was really happy with all the ideas that were displayed in ours. I think we produced some good work, but our whole group (myself included) needs to feel more comfortable and confident to raise ideas, because our discussions seem slightly reserved at present time.

I am going to research music styles through the past century to better understand our topic and to help formulate some helpful ideas. The funny thing is that I know so much music, both modern and classics, but as soon as someone asks me to give a specific example my head goes blank because my brain is unable to sort through all the stuff that is inside it. I really liked Kendal’s idea about the Bob Dylan song “Hurricane”. I can definately see the political messages.

Oh well.. that is all of the knowledge and wisdom I will depart on you, my loyal readers, for today!

HEY EVERYONE!!!

13 03 2007

OMG! I so should have paid more attention in computers in year 9! If I’d been smart enough to do that, maybe this process wouldn’t of nearly caused me a mental break down!!! As you can tell I’m not that technical, to bad my life long ambition is to be a computer genius! Lol! Just Joking!( Kara=jjk) Well now that I have made it to here this is so EXCITING!!! My first ever blog!

I spose I should talk about drama in her some where so here we go…. Last week we were given our ensemble groups and our topic. The stimulus is: “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)” by Pink Floyd. Our prescribed structure states that we have to explore types of music over the past century that has helped to form our society today and the music that we listen to. Our theme is Individuality vs. Conformity. So far it is interesting our group is geling really well!

I better be off, Talk to you soon!
